Rose Jam

Flowers are one of our big passions. Many are edible and among these there are several kind of roses like the ones we have in the garden. In this video we show you how to pick, clean and cook the petals to prepare a delicious jam.

Rose Jam is perfect for garnishing desserts, frozen semifreddo and ice cream. Another idea for a healthy, light and tasty breakfast is to spread this jam on toasted bread. If you love cheese, try it with creamy cheeses such as pecorino (Tuscan sheep milk cheese).

INGREDIENTS

  • 300 gr of organic, non treated rose petals
  • 300 gr of sugar
  • 100 gr of water

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Pick the roses, remove the white part from the petals and put them in a bowl with cold water to remove dust and insects
  2. Drain the petals and rub them gently in a container with some sugar taken from the total
  3. Let it rest overnight in the fridge
  4. After the rest time make the syrup with the remaining water and sugar, add the petals and cook 20 minutes
  5. When ready you can eat like this or, as we prefer, you can blend with a food processor
  6. You can keep the jam for a few months making sure to store it in glass jars, well cleaned and sterilized

Buon Appetito!
